Transportation: Your guide will pick you up from your lodging and transport you to the river. If by chance you are staying out of the area, an adequate meeting location will be agreed upon by both parties.
Equipment: Orvis Fly Rods, Reels, Flies, Leaders, Chota Felt Boots, Chota Waders(upon reservation, foot and body size will be noted)
Food: -Half Day: Drinks and snacks will be provided(organic lunch from The City Bakery and Café provided at an additional $10 per person). -Full Day: Drinks, snacks and an organic lunch from The City Bakery and Café, one of Asheville's finest lunch and coffee spots. -Note: Upon reservation notify us on any specific dietary request or needs, we will accommodate any requests.

Fishing License: A proper fishing license must be obtained prior to the event, and must be held on the angler at all times during the trip.
- North Carolina Fishing License
Rates: Instate drivers license: $20/good for one year
Out of state drivers license: $20/good for one day, $25/good for three days, $40/good for one year
- Tennessee Fishing License
Rates: Instate drivers license: $17/good for one year
Out of State drivers license: $33/good for three days, $50/good for ten days, $80/good for one year
Current Mediations: Be sure not to forget any medications you are currently taking, also notify your guide of any allergies, bees or food.
Rain Gear: Sections of Western North Carolina is classified as a temperate rain forest and can produce quick, sudden rain showers, especially in the warm summer afternoons.
Polarized Sunglasses: Cut the glare and enable you to spot trout in the stream.
Synthetic Layers: We ask that clients make sure they bring synthetic layers in order to achieve maximum comfort. Cotton should be avoided due to the fact that it absorbs water therefore increases evaporative heat loss. Synthetic layers, poly-propylene, fleece are the best bets because they properly allow water vapor to escape and retain body heat despite being wet.
Camera: Proof of the trophy trout you caught. Never forget your camera!
Gratuity: Fishing guides work extremely hard in making your fishing experience successful. Gratuity is not included in their daily pay, please treat them and return the kind generosity they deserve.

Local Wade Tours
Brown Dog Adventure Tours offers half day and full day wade fly-fishing tours of a variety of rivers in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. These rivers, such as the Davidson and the Mills, are within a short walk of the road and are easily accessible by anyone. Our patient and friendly guides will teach the novice in casting techniques, reading the river, and local ecology. They will dedicate ample time to each client, ensuring an overall quality experience. Depending on skill levels, weather and current fishing conditions, our guide will select the appropriate river for each client.

Float The South Holston River

Float The French Broad River
When the trout are not biting or if time is a constraint, floating the French Broad is an alternative. The smallmouth bass that call the French Broad home put up a fight that will turn the light-hearted fisherman into a die-hard angler.
This scenic river flows directly through Pisgah National Forest and is known for its abundance of smallmouth bass. Leave everything to your guide as they will teach you all there is to know about how to catch these fish.
